How many people thought at the turn of the year about what things were like 10 years ago? A round number seemed to invite that. I had started my career at Dimex a couple of months earlier, was planning a move to Leppävirta and had a baby under one year old at home. So during that year both my home life and work life would change. Dimex had had a difficult year. An extremely tough year for the entrepreneurs.
Now we’ve had a good year. We grew and many of our goals were met. It certainly wasn’t without challenges. It never has been. We analyse the previous year for a moment and then quickly leave it behind. For an entrepreneur, the turn of the year is a time to shed your skin. You reprogram what’s between your ears to the latest version. You struggle for a bit and then continue on, stronger than before.
Although it’s always worth learning from the past, both the good and the bad, your gaze must be firmly fixed on the future. Onwards and upwards! This year Dimex is seeking growth and our operations must be result-oriented. That’s clear. In a rapidly changing market, you’re always heading somewhere. You have to take good care to ensure that direction is the right one. For us, that means setting goals, reviewing our strategy and organising the monitoring of those goals. Planning our marketing and building future products. We create a vision and stay tuned in.
I was toying with the idea of ending with a paragraph about the year 2030. What will Dimex be like in 10 years? Wow. Even though my original sin is living in the future, 10 years feels like a long time. I want to keep all doors open. I hope that we have grown and learned. That we are still capable of change and of moving towards the future boldly with our heads held high.
An excellent year ahead to everyone!
