Dimex's design team meets every other week. Agile product development is definitely one of our competitive advantages. In the meetings, we review the wishes and feedback of retailers and end users, based on which we make improvements to existing products and at the same time develop new products. Our clothes are purely Designed in Finland. Our other competitive advantage is good guys. We have a good group of them here at Kokoojatie, we are like sisters and brothers in our activities. Getting along here is a playful coexistence – you wouldn't be able to do your work the way we do it with a "normal" coworker. The collection group includes our designers Jaana, Heli and Mervi. Petteri, Riitta and Tuire bring the sales perspective and I represent production. Our pattern masters Tuija and Riikka and our pattern seamstresses Ilona and Kaija drop in as guest stars at the collection meetings once a month. The Dimex atmosphere can also be seen, heard and felt in the design team meetings. There, people chatter about all sorts of nonsense and get real, heart-wrenching laughs almost every time. Here are some official terms that have slipped out of my mouth while we were working on the new 682 winter pants and the black slippery 686 summer pants that will be on sale in spring 2014. The new trousers have been designed to have a uniform appearance with details, for example the front pockets. They have been under real scrutiny for their appearance, size and structural properties. At different stages of product development, there was “stacking” of the pocket opening and “puffing” of the pocket pleats, but after “sniping” or small filings, the end result is good-looking and functional front pockets. The size and fit of trousers are important in workwear. No part should be "tight" or "snag" (a slang term from Savo). There must be enough room for bending and squatting, especially without taking into account the worker's brisk movements. The knee pads have also been a hot topic during product development, their size and location. Sometimes they have been too low or high and sometimes too on the inside or outside. Luckily, we have had “our own Petteri alias Piitör”, who has been so happy to fit the pants and kneel in front of the model group while testing the functionality of the knee pads. Now the knee pads should not “twist or rub”, we have been able to place them in the best possible position. And if someone in an existing product requires a change, we can implement it, in Tuire's words, "in the next suitable batch."So Dimex suits everyone. We manufacture very respectable workwear here.
